Carlos Tevez takes on first managerial at Rosario Central

– Former Manchester United and Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has been appointed the manager of Rosario Central.

– Tevez, 38, has taken on his first managerial role by signing a one-year deal to manage the Argentine Primera Division side.

– Rosario are currently 22nd in Argentina’s top flight, which contains 28 clubs, after four games in the second phase of the season.

– Tevez revealed earlier this month that he was hanging up his boots due to the death of his adopted father in February 2021.

– Segundo Raimundo passed away last year after experiencing complications from COVID-19.

– Tevez said he could have prolonged his playing career in the United States but he decided to end his 20-year spell in the professional game.

– He is quoted as telling Mundo Albiceleste: “I have retired, it is confirmed.

– “They offered me many things, including from the United States. But that’s it, I have given everything.

– “Playing the last year was very difficult but I was able to see my old man. I stopped playing because I lost my number one fan.”

– Tevez started and ended his professional career at Argentina’s Boca Juniors.

– He moved to Brazilian outfit Corinthians in 2005 before spending a combined seven years in England with West Ham, Manchester United and Manchester City.

– Tevez then went on to play for Juventus, Boca Juniors, Shanghai Shenhua in China and then back to boyhood side Boca Juniors.

– He won three Premier Leagues, two Serie A titles and a Champions League during his time in Europe.
